STORY PART 3 — They Mocked the Colonel Until Her Daughter’s Recording Began

4.9Editorial score

Victoria stayed with Emily while a forensic nurse photographed each injury and recorded her account.

Emily spoke in fragments at first.

The evening had begun with a formal dinner at the Prescott estate.

Ethan had told her that Margaret wanted to discuss damage Emily had supposedly done to the family’s reputation.

The accusation was based on a private message Emily had sent to a college friend saying she was considering leaving her marriage.

Ethan had accessed the message through a tablet linked to her account.

At dinner, Margaret placed the prepared statement beside Emily’s plate.

It claimed Emily had fabricated stories about emotional and physical mistreatment because of an untreated psychiatric condition.

It also authorized a private clinic selected by the Prescott family to evaluate her.

Emily refused.

Brandon took her phone.

Ethan blocked the dining room door.

When Emily tried to leave through the side hallway, Brandon grabbed both arms and forced her toward the guest house behind the main residence.

Margaret followed, carrying the statement and speaking as calmly as if she were directing staff at a charity banquet.

Inside the guest house, they locked the exterior door.

Ethan told Emily that if she signed, the family would arrange a quiet separation.

If she refused, they would release stories calling her unstable, unfaithful, and financially dishonest.

They would pressure mutual friends to confirm those stories.

They would claim she had attacked Brandon.

Emily had learned about the emergency function on her watch years earlier when Victoria was deployed overseas.

Three taps began recording, transmitted her location, and uploaded the file to an account controlled solely by Emily.

She activated it while Ethan was shouting.

When Brandon noticed the watch, he struck her wrist against the edge of a table, cracking the screen.

He assumed he had disabled it.

He had not.

Emily escaped only when Calvin Reed, the grounds manager, approached the guest house after hearing the noise.

Margaret ordered him to leave.

During the argument, Emily pushed through the partially opened door and ran toward the main driveway.

Ethan caught her near the fountain.

A catering employee arriving to collect rented equipment saw him pull her backward.

The employee stopped the van and shouted.

That brief interruption gave Emily enough time to reach the road, where a passing driver called emergency services.

The Prescotts arrived at the hospital before Victoria because they followed the ambulance.

They told staff Emily had suffered a breakdown.

They tried to take control of her belongings.

They tried to keep her from calling her mother.

By midnight, Detective Ortiz had secured a warrant for the Prescott estate, including the guest house, exterior security system, and relevant electronic devices.

The warrant was not based on Victoria’s rank or influence.

It was based on Emily’s statement, her documented injuries, the watch recording, the nurse’s observations, and the possibility that digital evidence was being destroyed.

Margaret’s attorney arrived in a charcoal suit and attempted to stop the search through a series of urgent calls.

He argued that the family’s security network contained confidential information.

A judge denied the request.

The search team reached the estate shortly after one in the morning.

They found the guest house door fitted with an electronic lock that could be controlled from the main residence.

The interior handle had been disabled through a security setting normally used when the building was vacant.

They found Emily’s phone in Brandon’s desk drawer.

They found the original statement on Margaret’s laptop, along with several versions carrying increasingly aggressive language.

One draft included a list of journalists and political contacts who could be used to spread claims about Emily.

Most damaging of all, they recovered the security system.

Margaret had ordered Calvin to erase it, but Calvin had refused.

Before leaving the property, he copied the footage to an external drive and hid it in the maintenance office.

He later called the police after learning Emily had reached the hospital.

The video showed Brandon taking Emily’s phone.

It showed Ethan blocking her path.

It showed all three Prescotts escorting her toward the guest house while she resisted.
